In stepped that muddled old doctor
"She's very low," he said
I knelt down close to say
Goodbye to my baby
But I could tell by the wind
She was dead

I went down to Old Joe's Barroom
On the corner by the square
I burst through that door

On my left sat Joe McKennedy
His eyes were bloodshot red
I told him that story
'Bout that corpse that was my baby
